
The negotiations are tortured and politically sensitive, but finally it seems that Temasek and Tui (on behalf of NOL and Hapag-Lloyd) may be willing to tread where Maersk Sealand and P&O Nedlloyd tried (and are yet to come close to succeeding). The two sides are still far apart in terms of how they wish to proceed, but both realise that the current status quo with both carriers will not be able to carry them forward into the future.
