Chinese military hacked into Pentagon

That this type of attack happens should surprise no one - that this attack was so successful should concern everyone. Technically, this could be viewed as an act of war, but of course we still all draw a big line between the cyber world and the real world, especially if escalation involves actual shots being fired. China has expended great resources on its information warfare abilities and the US needs to up its defences, as has clearly been shown here.
